Summer 2016/17 Reviews & Ratings

Postby SardisBCwxman » Fri Sep 08, 2017 10:29 pm

I know Summer isn't officially over until the 22nd but just the change in the weather today sure makes it feel like it's close to being a done Summer.
What's your memories of Summer 2017 list as many or as few as you wish.
1. Forest fires
2.The smoke in the Lowermainland
3.The number of 30c plus day's in the valley
4.The very warm overnight lows
5.The lack of convective activity we had this Summer
6.Lack of rain

I would have given this summer an "A" if it wasn't for all the smoke. For that reason I would have to downgrade it to a "B" or "B+".

I appreciated the dryness because it allowed me to accomplish some necessary outdoor projects. The smoke made being outside less enjoyable, though.

I thought the temperature was just about right for June and July. August got a bit warm, as did the start of September.

B+ overall.

Driest since 2003.... impressive. I remember the big drought that year, but the event that sticks out is the Okanagan fires.

Well here's a shocker! Osoyoos was never the hottest place in BC in July! Warfield was the hottest spot 19 days while Ashcroft was the next most common at 5 days.
