Interesting but like I said in a past post nothing will come close to that thunder snow back in early April 1972, I recall the next morning some snowshowers as well and a couple inches fell through till the early afternoon, I was living in Kitsilano at the time. Maybe someone can pull up the data for that day/night.

 Yeah now your an old whippersnapper, I think old Man Gumper may recall that event, I really can't recall too many like it in April especially for metro Vancouver.

It was either the 7th, 8th or 9th. All had accumulating snow. http://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_da ... 72&Month=4

Edit: I think you're referring to April 9th. 3.6cm of snow was recorded at the airport with snow falling thru 11am per hourly data: http://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_da ... 72&Month=4

Yes the thunder snow was late in the evening it was a Saturday night I remember that, we had some snow on the ground from it and it cleared the temp. dropped to just below freezing then I think a system came in early Sunday morning and we had more snow then snow/rain till early afternoon.

On the topic of the early 70s...those were some insanely snowy winters. January '71 was quite significant...over 100cm fell in just five days.

Yes they were before we moved to Kitsilano we lived at Fraser and 49th for the winter of 71/72 an elevated area of south Vancouver probably had a bit more snow in that area then say down near Marine Drive no doubt. December 71 was cold and snowy I recall especially the Christmas week, January 72 was also nice, there was skating on Trout Lake that winter as well.
