Although rare the Chilcotin can sometimes get epic snowfalls. I was at Charlotte Lake for one such snowfall in November of 2008 and we had a couple of feet fall in just 3 days and driving out was a nightmare with large snow drifts and it took us 7 hours to get to Williams lake. It looks like it will be a high water year for the Chilcotin this year similar to 1996, 1999 and 2007.

Funny thing is, at my brother's place he got a foot and a half, and 5 km east of him they got 3 inches, and 20 km east of that they got nothing (just rain).

Oh, and my mom was saying that the snow was coming from the east, and because it was so wet and heavy all the trees were pure white (and still are a week later) on the east side of the trees, but there's no snow on the west side of the trees. That would explain the big snow dump... if it's coming from the east, the big up to 14,000 ft mountains to west would cause an epic snow event.

Storm total was 91.6mm thru yesterday afternoon. Which put us past 300mm for the month of January. First time that has happened since January 2006.

That 2006 analogue was one that I was kind of hoping to avoid. So far we have been unsuccessful at that.
