Daily And Monthly Precipitation Totals 2018

Postby SardisBCwxman » Fri Jan 05, 2018 8:35 pm

I guess we need a new thread for a new year.
T-3 you may want to move your Jan. rainfall total to this new thread.

I'm currently sitting at 23.4mm here in upper Mission so far this first month of the new year.

29.2 mm of rain here so far this year... plus about 34 mm of snow/ice melt.

So gross outside... everything is waterlogged and saturated... humidity has been pegged at 99% all day... everything covered with condensation... car windows fog up immediately and must run A/C the entire time just to keep them clear.

My weather station is on a pole in the back yard (it's a power pole I use for the clothes line). Anyway, the problem is that under the right conditions the snow builds up at the top of the pole, and then when we get a warm spell, it falls off into the weather station. So yesterday I "recorded" 13mm of precipitation because of the snow falling into the rain gauge.

P.S. another 1 cm of heavy, heavy snow at my place today. It's been about 0C (+/-0.5C) night and day for the past 3 days.

I've had around 30 mm of rain so far today. Too bad the arctic front didn't make it a bit further South, otherwise I may have seen 15 cm of snow instead.

I've been in the rain shadow of Sumas Mountain today, so just 9.8 mm.

40 mm yesterday and then another 35 for me today. This leaves me with a two day storm total of 75 mm.

I had a trace of snow this month.

I'm at 99.5 mm for the month, so it's been on the dry side out here.

Normal for Jan at YXX is 211.7 mm of precipitation with 18.5 cm of snow.

My mom had almost two feet of snow yesterday! One of the biggest snowfalls she's ever seen.
