We have one of those portable units. It's being a bit overwhelmed to be honest, but it does take the edge off. I bought it a couple weeks ago, as I had a feeling a hot spell was coming, although I wasn't expecting something on this scale.

I broke down and bought 2 portable units earlier this year. One in my bedroom, one in the room over the garage that gets 36C without it!

Never had AC in any place I've lived. I probably would get it if I had to sleep upstairs. My old condo was horrendous... mid 30's was common since it was on the top floor with a lot of windows.

We do it's in the dining room window, it cools the living room as well, our bedroom is a converted garage downstairs nice and cool in the Summer with fan on at night and I sleep like a baby. Although this heat makes me cry like one as well.

I bought one because my room was on the third floor so it got super hot up there. I've since moved into the basement, where it stays much cooler but I do have my A/C installed down here, which makes it even cooler. My room is like the perfect summer hideout.
