Most "below" average... LOL

On the other hand, I guess Monty was right- it hasn't been particularly warm over there, compared to the mainland.

Ya, when there are only 5 weather stations in the entire country that were below average (4 of those in Newfoundland & 1 in Quebec), you kind of have to get creative. +1.1 above 1981-2010 normal, but maybe below 2010-2015 normal or something like that. That data does seem to collaborate Monty's story.

The summer of 2016 was quite interesting. In some areas of Canada, namely in the east, it was very hot and dry while most of the west was wet.

Some highlights:
- Windsor, Ontario averaged 24.0C for the summer, which is one of the warmest summers ever recorded anywhere in Canada.
- Zeballos on Vancouver Island recorded the most precipitation in BC for the first time ever with 435.6 mm.
- The normal wet spot, Boat Bluff, didn't even make the top 5 even though it was first 10 of the previous 11 years.
- Two interior locations beat the central coastal lighthouse location of Boat Bluff, including 2nd place Chetwynd with 428.6 mm.
- Ashcroft recorded BC's warmest summer for the 6th year in a row (the weather station has only been around for that long).
- Oliver was Canada's hottest location with a reading of 39C in July. This is the first time since 1955 that Oliver has been Canada's hot spot.
- Grouse Mountain recorded the most snow in BC, the first time this has ever happened. 5 cm occurred in June.
- Esquimalt was the driest place in Canada with a mere 34.8 mm.
- Yoho National Park was both the coolest summer (12.0C) and the most extreme cold spot (-4C) in BC.

Interesting how the wettest place in BC every single month of the year is always the central coast or the north coast or Vancouver Island or the North Shore on occasion or the northeast of the province during the summer months once in a while, but for the first time since I remember, the wettest place in the entire country last month was... Richmond! In fact, 4 of the top 5 wettest places where in the typically drier Fraser Valley. Pitt Meadows and Mission - West Abbey aren't south of the Fraser, but they're not as close to the mountains to be wet like North Van.

Wettest places in Canada in December 2017:

RICHMOND DALLYN 2 = 311.4 mm
BOAT BLUFF = 253.2
PITT MEADOWS CS = 244.1
RICHMOND OPERATIONS CENTRE = 243.9
MISSION WEST ABBEY = 237.2

Might need to investigate the Richmond one. That's just a stone's throw from YVR, which only saw 170 mm last month.

You're definitely right about "RICHMOND DALLYN 2". It's erroneous, giving 250mm in one day. Ah, so Boat Bluff on the central coast is still #1.
