BC Inflation Calculator

Is this bogus, or what? http://inflationcalculator.ca/british-columbia/ I put in 2008 as the start date, and it's showing only 13.8%, or 1.25% per year. Seriously?! I would think that the skyrocketing cost of rent alone would push inflation WAY higher than these numbers suggest. I also remembe...

Re: Interactive map projecting days with 32C or greater when you're 80 years old

90F = 32.2C. In the old days temperatures were recorded to the nearest degree Fahrenheit, so the temperature of 31.9 would likely round up while 31.8 would round down. Some of the numbers are way off here. It says for example that Kelowna and Vernon get a lot more 32C days than Kamloops when the op...

Re: Interactive map projecting days with 32C or greater when you're 80 years old

A bit surprised the number hasn't changed, but I'll go with that.

There were seven this year at YXX. There were another five that were extremely close, all between 31.6C and 31.9C. For all intents and purposes, that is 32C. So that's 12 days of 31.6C or higher... this summer.

Re: August 2018 Currrent Conditions & Forecasts

True... but the argument raised (I think by Sardine man) was that the media is only focusing on record highs and ignoring record lows. So I want to know just how many record lows there have been each year. There should be an 3.65 record lows on average per year in 100 years data (I think Agassiz ha...

Re: August 2018 Currrent Conditions & Forecasts

Yeah... 8.8C only seemed chilly compared to what we're used to. Even then I'd argue that record was low hanging fruit. It would be interesting to see a chart with the number of daily record lows at Agassiz for each year for the last 100 years. Let's conduct a simple math exercise. Let's assume no c...

Re: August 2018 Currrent Conditions & Forecasts

Here's one for you Glacier and C goosed again. Agassiz set this new low min for the day yesterday the sad thing is the media in it's stupidity is so hell bent on high temp. records that these little tid bits fall through the cracks, that's just insane. That's why I get tired of watching the local w...

Re: August 2018 Currrent Conditions & Forecasts

Is it just me or has this spring/summer been almost a mirror image of 2017? A few minor differences between them of course. But you've got the high snowpack, the flooding due to dry weather in May/early June, the cool/wet junuary stretch followed by an almost instantaneous transition to hot/dry for...

Re: August 2018 Currrent Conditions & Forecasts

I got down to 8.8C this morning. That's my coolest morning since July 3rd, when it was 8.4C.

Re: August 2018 Currrent Conditions & Forecasts

30C in September is awesome. It's usually cool at night and the days are shorter, and humidity is often lower as well. :) It's nothing like 30C in June or July, or even May. Remember that smoky hot spell we had year in early Sept. It was extremely warm at night and totally ruined our heat contest. ...

Re: August 2018 Currrent Conditions & Forecasts

Statistically, maybe a 50/50 chance we even hit 30C+ again this year... 85F = 29C. .CLIMATE...The chances for a 90 degree day in the Seattle area are decreasing quickly. There have only been 19 days ( less than 10 percent of the total ) with highs 90 degrees plus after August 27th in the 73 years o...
