Re: February 2018 Arctic Blast Contest

Let's see how well you all did with your bonus picks, but first here is the list of the top 11 hot and cold spots from yesterday... weathersummarybcfeb19.png Notable absences include Fort Nelson and Dease Lake! Fort Nelson (BC coldest place during the winter on average) was only -18.3C. Dease Lake w...

Re: February 2018 Arctic Blast Contest

Just noticed @Rain_Down_On_Me's predictions are missing from the list. Oops.... I've had to make some adjustments to Rain Down On Me. He didn't pick anything for Sunday afternoon, so I just used his Monday picks for both. Then, I used his Sunday lows as the actual day lows, not the morning low. Any...

Re: February 2018 Arctic Blast Contest

Vancouver hit -6.5C this morning. Not bad for them. :) Van -6.5 Vic -2.7 Abb -4.3 Yesterday for Abbotsford should be -0.8C if we're going with afternoon highs. Well, damn, that puts you in first place. You beat EC for the top spot because they guessed the wrong coldspot and were off by 10 degrees. ...

But enough of a hit to set new temperature records even on the coast. (-7.5C at Sechelt this morning).

Re: February 2018 Current Conditions and Forecasts

I only got down to -5.1C this morning, and it looks like YXX only hit -4.3C. I was conservative in the contest predicting -6C, but mother nature is apparently a very far right conservative. It's already almost up to 0C here. Some arctic air this is. Today was the coldest day all winte...

Re: Winter 2017/18 snowfall reports and seasonal totals.

Kamloops: 15.4cm on Saturday marks the snowiest day ever record in Kamloops in February. This February is the wettest February in Kamloops since 1975.

Re: February 2018 Arctic Blast Contest

Thanks for doing the spreadsheet Why 10pm? I assumed 11pm because of daylight savings or something maybe? Not sure why they don’t do 12-12. Too easy I guess. I have no idea why that's the case. It seems like an odd time to do it. I think it's 11pm in the summer. EDIT: Coldest spots in BC today (hou...

How did Vancouver hit 4.9. They had dropped to 0.3 with snow at 11pm Saturday night.

The cutoff is 10pm the night before. It was over 4C the night before at YVR.

Contest so far (not counting this morning)...

Re: February 2018 Arctic Blast Contest

^ Just realized all those highs were set last night, and all the lows were set this evening. I dunno if we should just go with those, or should we use the morning lows and afternoon highs only? I know the morning lows, but the highs would have to be estimated based on the hourly obs. Anyway, here a...
